INTEGRITY, IN PLAIN LANGUAGE
A fingerprint for a moment in time.
A digital fingerprint changes when its recorded content changes. An anchor can show that a fingerprint existed by a certain time. Neither process knows whether a submitted story is true.
The record stays off-chain
Personal information, original evidence, and private history stay in the application’s database and storage. A public blockchain receives only a cryptographic batch root.
Versions preserve change
Material updates produce new versions. Corrections point to earlier entries so the sequence stays visible. An old certificate can be revoked without removing its history.
Small proofs, shared cost
Record fingerprints are combined in a Merkle tree. Each record keeps a path that allows its inclusion in the batch to be checked without disclosing other records.
Free Bitcoin timestamps
Where enabled, OpenTimestamps calendar services anchor blinded fingerprints to Bitcoin without requiring a wallet, token or cryptocurrency purchase. Confirmation can take several hours. A pending calendar receipt is not blockchain confirmation. Each record’s verification page shows its actual status; local test proofs remain labeled separately.
Independent checking
No action is required to start timestamp processing. For an independent check, open Technical details on the verification page to recompute the fingerprint in your browser and download the proof. Confirmed Bitcoin proofs can also be checked with an OpenTimestamps client.
